Project Gigabit network update – Cheshire
Cheshire and Warrington are to benefit from further investment into fibre broadband delivery via Building Digital UK’s Project Gigabit.
BDUK have announced: “In February 2026, BDUK agreed a contract change with Openreach to include premises in this area within a new Project Gigabit contract (call‑off eight). Through call‑off eight, BDUK has awarded Openreach £37.5 million to deliver gigabit‑capable broadband to around 18,500 hard‑to‑reach premises across Cheshire.”
Whilst we await further details more information will be published on BDUK’s website.
Digital Cheshire Champions Get Online Week Across Cheshire and Warrington
Digital Cheshire proudly joined the national Get Online Week campaign last week. Helping residents across the county build confidence and skills in using digital technology. As part of its mission to improve connectivity and digital inclusion, Digital Cheshire hosted a series of engaging events and activities aimed at supporting people, who are at risk of becoming digitally excluded or simply looking to improve their online skills.
