Digital Cheshire Announce Events for Get Online Week 2025

Get Online Week starts on 20th October 2025.

Digital Cheshire is proud to be delivering a week of community-focused digital inclusion events as part of the national Get Online Week 2025 initiative, to help tackle digital exclusion and empower residents with the skills and confidence they need in today’s connected world.

Get Online Week is a national campaign led by the Good Things Foundation, with local partners like Digital Cheshire delivering activities tailored to their communities. Last year, the campaign reached thousands of people nationwide, and 2025 is expected to have an even greater impact and we’re pleased to be supporting the campaign.

The initiative will see a series of free workshops, drop-in sessions, and community events hosted across Cheshire, Halton, and Warrington, bringing together local councils, voluntary groups, and technology partners to support people, who may feel left behind by the rapid pace of digital change.

Access to the internet is no longer a luxury, it’s a necessity. Whether it’s managing healthcare and prescriptions online, applying for jobs, or staying in touch with family, digital skills open up more opportunities. Our events are designed to ensure there is a safe place in our communities, where residents can ask questions and build digital skills, ensuring nobody is left behind.

The week will focus on:

Basic digital skills — from setting up an email account to using online services safely.

Confidence – building talks for those anxious about going online.

Guidance for community groups – helping them support their own networks and local residents.

Showcasing public and telecoms services that are increasingly becoming digital. This includes working with colleagues at BT to share insight into the landline switchover.

Digital Cheshire are encouraging residents and community group organisers to attend, and support Get Online Week, underlining the importance of local collaboration in closing the digital divide.
